About Us
The POON was built and designed by two Cape Cod tuna fishermen,
Kevin Glynn and Chris Godino. Kevin was in the need of a heavy, accurate,
two piece harpoon. He approached Chris, who owns a machine shop and a
local charter boat, and the first prototype was born.
The original POON was
nothing more than a 1" aluminum pipe and heavy bronze head. Looking for
better quality and corrosion resistance, the two tried a variety of different
coatings for the components. What they have today are highly corrosion
resistant components and shafts that provide excellent grip for handling.
The POON has been field tested on a variety of giant blue fin tuna vessels,
including the TALLEY VII, which Capt. Kevin runs year round. Originally
developed for personal use, the POON was requested by more and more friends
of Kevin and Chris's, so they decided to start marketing the POON to local tackle
shops up and down the East Coast, as well as a variety of mail order catalogs.
The POON is regarded as the highest quality harpoon available on the market.
It has received rave reviews from shark fishermen, sword fishermen, and tuna
fishermen from the east coast to the west coast.
