The Boat

OVEPRROOF is a custom built Carolina by Island Boatworks. She is a 41 foot Express Sportfisher that handles the seas well and cruises at 26 knots. She is one of the fastest boats in the charter fleet. We will have you fishing in less than ½ hour so your day will have maximum fishing time. Our fishing gear is top shelf Shimano and Alutecnos and we have the latest in fishing electronics to put you at an advantage over the fish, and of course, a very experienced Captain!!

The Captain

Captain Peter Rans is the owner and captain of Overproof. Captain Pete has been deep sea fishing in Bermuda since he was a young boy and is extremely knowledgeable, successful and well respected when it comes to fishing Bermuda waters. Peter has also fished in the Australia, Bahamas, Costa Rica and the Southeast U.S.

Peter's professional fishing started on the original Overproof which is a 31 foot JC. On this small boat Peter was able to compete at the same level as the larger boats in Bermuda's charter fleet and visiting international boats. In 2002, Peter caught the largest blue marlin (906 lbs) and the largest wahoo (102 lbs) of the season. He placed 4th in the 2002 and 2003 Bermuda Big Game Classic and 3rd Place in 2005 with an 850lb Blue Marlin! He has won the Bermuda International Light Tackle Tournament in 2006 and 2003. In 2007 he won the Bermuda Leg of the Bermuda Triangle Marlin Tournament.

Our season normally runs from March to November. March, April and May bring great wahoo, yellow fin tuna and white marlin, with June to August being the hottest blue marlin fishing. In September to November there are a lot of wahoo to be caught. The other months our weather can be iffy, but there are some beautiful days and still good fishing.
