    YOUR SPRING MAKE-READY LIST

Thought it would be nice to have a list put together for that first shake-down trip of the season. Anyone have something they want to pony up???

For me, it's broken down into catagories:

    EXTERIOR / DECK
wash / wax / polish alum. / tighten screws, bolts, etc. / Check lights

    INTERIOR / BILGE
wash / spray with protectant / check all fittings / flush all systems

    MECHANICAL / ENGINE
clean / protect / check connections / check cooling / check batteries / check prop nuts

    MECHANICAL / SYSTEMS
check all wiring connections / spray with protectant / check operational of such

    ELECTRICAL
double check the above / check voltage of different batteries

    SAFETY
    PFD's / backup VHF & GPS / First aid / lines.

What is missing...this was a quick run down.

The first thing on my list is to shake all the snow and ice off the cover before I can start on the main list. I'll be glad when the white stuff is gone for the season.

    Seriously, good post!!!

    For me, it ongoing...
My lists fill volumes... Before season and before my island trips I run through a zillion things. Even a little battleship like mine has a mountain of systems...
I start with the running gear and rudders. Zincs get done. Tabs cycled and fluid adjusted. Steering upstairs and down. The seals get checked, pressure is adjusted, ram is inspected, fluid adjusted. Then on to the throttle and shift cables and their linkages. Then every cooling, oil and fuel line is done.
All bilge pumps are checked and cleaned. Spares put aboard. Alternator connections, battery connections then every switch on every pannel is inspected and sprayed. Sensors and guages get checked. On the safety gear. Tbag is unloaded and reloaded. Fire extinguishers checked or replaced. New flares each year. Redundant sound producing devices. Vhf, radar, gps units all checked. hand held back ups fully charged. Spare oil, tranny fluid, coolant, other fluids is stowed along with spare filters, hoses , belts, alternators, starters...
Only after the guts are done do I get to my tackle lists, and eventually to the cosmetics...

I run all pumps, bilge, sump, AC, livewells, washdown, etc, AT the dock a few times before leaving the slip. Also let the genset run and make sure that all AC systems can function and the batteries can be brought up with the charger.

I break each down to individual systems checks:
    Macro view:
    Electrical system - includes genset
    Engine and Propulsion systems
    Steering system - stations
Bilge and pump systems - includes wash downs, live wells etc - pumps replaced this spring along with switheswhich always like to stick open
    HVAC systems...
Zinc's engine(s) and running gear - all replaced
Belts - all replaced good used are kept for spares
Raw water pump impellers - all replaced this spring - spares for genset and engines on board
All Fuel and water delivery filters replaced at fall haul out
Head system - check with spare duck bill valves
Double check all spare parts on board...all engine-pump impellers in one location all spare filters in another location. Double check on board tool boxes.
Re-supply the silicone tape, thread locker, electrical parts crimps, heat shrink etc...spare oil and trans fuilds, coolant, through hull wood plugs

Basically every electrical and mechanical system on board includes galley gear, microwave, cooktop....then to cosmetic's
Hull gets two coats of wax de jour this year
All metal work gets two coats ...woody wax
    Macerator pumps for fish boxes.....
Electronics...no new stuff this year.....well maybe one new piece

We went on the hard for the winter and spent some serious time gettin it done right. Have new battery's to install

Question guys: What do you like to spray your electrical connections with. I have been using corrosionblock fora wile with good results but remain curious for better solutions

Well this is my basic and then go onto Safety Systems....raft, flares, epirb, hand helds, etc....

    Here's to a trouble free system......and season
