Fished North of Veatch Canyon(14080/43389) on Thursday. I had been watching this warm eddy for a while and since most of the other reports from the edge were not that great we decided to make the longer run and give it a shot. Not having any reports from this area we knew it was a risk. Found the temperature break and it went from 66 to 74 degrees in less than a mile. Worked this edge for a while but there were no signs of life, so we continued to the south west looking for the western edge. About 5 miles in we found some hi-flyers with a bunch of mahi and immediately hooked up with a couple. While we were fighting the mahi a nice yellow hopped on, #1 in the boat for the day and I can breathe a bit easier now. Next we found some porpoises and picked up another yellow. Continued to hammer the area and found more and more signs of life. The hi-flyers had bait, nice rip lines and another 1 degree temp break. Birds were now working so there was no reason to look much further. Final tally for the day was 6 yellowfin to 60 lbs, a bunch of mahi and skipjack, 1 wahoo cut-off, 1 blue marlin chaffe off and a few dropped fish. All the fish came within a 2 mile radius of each other. Like they say never leave fish to find fish...
PS. It really pissed off the crewLOL, when I came out of the tower to work the cockpit for a while. As soon as I moved the pattern around the next strike was a double, followed by triple.. They say it was SH#T LUCK.. I said it was skill

We also had a hitchhiker on the trip back. Check out the last picture. Worked this guy so hard that he couldnt keep his eyes open even while the rest of the guys were fishing(background). I guess this gives a new meaning to the old saying that "Fishin' is for the Birds".
