    OC Yellowfin Bonanza 6/16 Report

    I love fishing on Tuesdays...

As a few others, we had a banner day Tues on the Yellowfin.

Fished in 80FA with Hrook(aka Larry) his dad Larry, my wife Sherry, Joey Lasorda and Ron Hoffmann.

Caught 20 Yellowfin keeping 8 in the box and releasing 12. Also caught 2 Mahi and a few skippies.

Non stop action all day with 3 or 4 rods going off each time. Larry was a machine in the pit as we didn't loose a single fish at the boat. Even fowl hooked one in the side and got it in the boat with the hook just thru the skin on the side of the fish..

All fish were right at the boat on either a spreaderbar on small bait.

The second fishing trip on the new boat and I'm really starting to like the way she raises um..

There out there.. Good Luck to all.

    Ed

I know how it feels when a new boat raises fish, I just picked up a single diesel a couple months ago and I have caught more tuna on her than the last
3 years in my outboard boat.

Very nice day on the water. Looks like a couple of bigger ones in the mix. !!! Hopefully the fish hold on throughout the season.

Thanks again Ed - what a great trip and I never had to crank on a fish - just perfect!

    Here's some pics:

New boat owners hooked up on 2 of what was a triple:

    Joey fighting the "big" fish

Turns out this fish was just unlucky. He smashed the middle of the spreader bar baits and was grazed by the stinger hook and was fowl hooked. Took a while to reel in a dead tuna on its side with 30 lb gear, but we got him! Way to keep those hooks sharp!

Close up - only about 1" of skin made the difference between life and death for this yf.

I don't think it could have been any better. Wish I could get out there again this weekend!
