    Yellow fin tuna

    Hi!
Where is the best yellowfin tuna fishing in the world? My dad and I are looking to take a 5 or 6 day trip and spend most of it fishing. Although it would be great to land a couple hundred pounder we are really interested in getting more than a few fish.

    What does everyone think?

i am sure you can talk to adam about getting a 3 day trip (weather permitting) for you on the brand new 60' canyon runner. have to check though as there may not be any 3 day holes in the book.

    just a thought.
    day one-tuna tuna tuna
    night one-tuna/sword/shark?
    day two-tuna/marlin/marlin
    night two-swords
day three-tuna or marlin and then home.

man oh man, i think i just talked myself into something.

If you want numbers of fish, Oregon Inlet or Hatteras NC can't be beat. If you want size, fish out of Puerto Vallarta. OR, go chunking in the Gulf out of Venice in the winter for a change of gears. They definitely catch some fish in the canyons up there, but having done that once or twice, that's one heck of a run when you have a slow day. And anyone who says they never have slow days in ANY locale is full of it. Plus if you fish multiple days in NC your chances at a blue, multiple whites or sails is much greater than anywhere else in the U.S. 'Nuff said!!!

For your best shot at a GIANT yellowfin, give Capt Josh a buzz.. Cowtown(Puerto Vallarta) is probably your best bet at a true cow(over 300lbs)

Its hard to beat the Louisiana coast , venice , grand isle, fourchon. 12 months a year day or night oil rig fishing , winter time the lump goes off, its only a short run offshore about 20 miles, and all the tuna you want up to 220 lbs and some monster wahoo as well this time of year pushing a 100lbs is common. Blue marlin bite starts going off in april, then all your palagics pick up in may through november.... Its hard to beat the fishing there....
