hey guys whatsup...so today after storming for a good 2 hours i decided to take my yak out trolling in oak island...it was a new idea that i definitely am becoming custom to, with pics of rig to come soon....however today was quite eventful, i yaked 2 miles out and immediately did a little bit of deep dropping caught a couple decent sized black sea bass, nothing special, however i also had two trolling set-ups for the yak in which i decided to hook up...basic set up was two mackerel float rigs, with a half foot strip of bait mullet hooked on...i got these set-up and floated them out about 50 feet before setting drag and beginning paddling...lo and behold 20 min later much to my surprise...one of the reels began screamin bloody mercy!!...as my face lit up with a smile i began reeling in what i thought at the time based off amount of line going out and speed at which it as leaivng, that i had actually managed to hook a king mackerel...however after about 10 minutes of me fighting and my yak being dragged, as i could obviously not paddle and reel at the same time, i was able to bring in a about 4ft black tip shark weighing in at about 35 lbs, unfortunately due to me using 80 lb braid i wasnt able to cut the and wasnt about to gnash up my teeth,, so it forced me to have to paddle back 2 miles inshore to get it loose,,, this turned out to be awful beacuse paddling two miles against current and against a shark swimming that opposite direction was quite a task, however it ended up worth it, seeing as i got to get my photo op with the shark, as well as it was let back into the water safe and soound to live another day...a great day of fishing, working out, and adventures in my book, cant wait for tomorrow!
