Great tip Shark. I just to pressure wash them while I was doing the boat till someone else told me about driving the salt inside. Thanks for the tips, keep em coming.
You wash your reels? Great Post shark. I do have a question about the clorox thing though. Where did you learn or read about clorox breaking down line. It was my understanding from a conversation with a represetitive from stren that sunlight is one of the only things that weaken line. We were coming in from a trip on the Ark years ago and he just smiled as we rode by all the boats with their rods sittin in the rocket launchers and rodholders. He sais that fishing line would be almost indestrucatable if it weren't for sunlight. His suggestion was to keep the reel covers on at all times except for fishing time. If you have freswater washdown then try to wash them off right away, dry, cover and stowe away on the way home.
Nice tips for the preservation of the reels. A couple times of year I like to use pledge on my rods, just spray on a rag and wipe down. No more faded haze after washing with a mild soap cleaner, plus this is a good time to inspect your guides.
