do you still put the offshore swivel at the end of the wind on or not. What is the best way to attatch the end of the wind on to the lure or whatever your fishing that day.

If your using a wind on, crimp your hook and lure right on the mono end, and loop to loop connect the leader to your main line, otherwise what was the point of using a wind on in the first place?? If you plan to use swivels like you may be used to, use hollowcore braid with a mono topshot, you will fish the same way you used to, but gain in overall line capacity, or be able to use lighter gear with similar line capacities that you are used to.

You can do that most certainly. On my big stuff for blue marlin 80 or 130 I use an

Austrailin Braid (2 feet) + loop to loop connection 550 extra hard wind on (20 feet) + 400lb barrel swivel crimped on + to a 550lb extra hard wind on leader. Then all my Mackerals or lures that Im going to pull are rigged on 8 foot 550lb leaders It is IGFA legal and I can change them out.

Tuna fishing were Im going to be using a wind on and islander and rerigging it after every bite. Just scale everything down slide on the islander and crimp the hook to the leader.

With artificials or macerals or a bait that takes alot of time to rig. It wouldnt be wise to crimp your hook right to the end of the leader unless you are bridling the baits and you can just pull the hook out and slide on a new bait. With artificials you would be slididng a lure up the leader then trying to find right hook plscement then add stiffness then tape it would be a pain to do every time you want to change baits.

    Hope this helps

i use wind on with a swivel, i use them because the last 20 feet you have the option to tighten down on the drag when the fish gets close, i don't know why else you wouls use a wind on
