    will this work??

When i use a spro swivle my crimp or knot hangs a little in the guides so i was wondering if i spliced a loop on to my main line then attached the swivle then make like a topshot but it would be my leader material. And attach it to my swivle would this work. it would delete the knots or crimps so it wouldent hang up.?

    thanks--austin

Sounds like taking something simple and complicating it...

It should be able to be tied or crimped depending on the size of the swivel, guides, and line weight.

I agree. A little more info would be helpful, too. What kind of guides do you have? Roller? Is it just the tip it's getting hung up on? If so, try lowering the rod tip when the swivel comes to the tip. Even if you splice a loop, I would attach the swivel with a Cat's Paw.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

i have the same issue since i dont have all wind on guides. i was thinking about using some type of heat shrink tubing (as long as i can do it without messing up the line)

You can always wrap it up with electrical tape if you want..

or you can use some zap glue and glue it all together.. sometimes that will allow it to run throw the guides..

but i think if i was you without roller or if it gets hung up try a bimini or surgeons and just cats paw it onto the swivel..

If your using mono a short Bimini on the mainline and double catspaw to the swivel then a double catspaw to a windon leader.

With spectra a spliced loop on the spectra and a double catspaw to the swivel and a double catspaw to a windon leader.

I switched to just standard barrel swivels after seeing someone almost get pulled over the rail with a windon swivel. The standard barrel swivels are flexible and not as ridged. Since we switch we never had a binding problem again..Mark

With anything under 130 pound leader should be able to be tied or crimped with no problem if done properly...
