We were able to sneak out again yesterday for some more offshore action before we turn our focus on Striper fishing. There was some good water sitting on the East side of the Wilmington and with some encouraging reports from the week of a day troll bite picking up we decided to head that way. We arrived at first light with the bulk of the overnight fleet still there chunking. We had 1 flat of sardines on board so we decided to give that a shot and it was well worth it. We quickly put a small gaffer Dolphin in the box and an hour or so after this we had a double of Longfins on the sardines. A few more drifts through the area resulted in 1 more Longfin on a hammered diamond jig before we ran out of bait and got on the troll. We gave it a solid effort on the troll working over the Longfin #'s and then up the East side of the canyon but didn't have any luck. It did sound like a few boats arriving that afternoon for their Sun-Mon overnighter had a couple troll bites but overall the troll bite unfortunately still remains to be non-existent. There's still some time left to get in on the offshore action so get out there and get them!
