    Widowmaker – Double Header Weekend…11/17-18 w/pix

Saturday we got out and it was down right sh**ty out in that bay but we made our way to a spot in the lower bay we have been fishing all year and set-up for the flood. About an hour into the tide we get one on and are thinking alright we are not taking the skunk 3 times in a row this year. WRONG! 10-12 pound bluefish was Palm Beach released boat side. Ok no big deal get the baits back out and then the brown plague showed up. We were sitting in pretty clean 51 degree water and this line of the ugliest brown 48 degree water rolled up on us and we got the hell out of there in a hurry. We pointed the boat up the bay and ran to a spot a little spot we liked on the chart and all agreed on. Much cleaner water was up there and warmer at 52 degrees. We set up the spread and made the best out of the remainder of the flood by boating our only shot of the day a nice 35” fish.

Sorry no pictures this day as the camera was out of batteries.

The bay was much nicer to us (at least in the morning Sunday) as we made our way to the same spot we fished Saturday in the afternoon at 31 knots with no problem. After a little hunting we found the depth and water quality we wanted as well as a lot of bait on the machine. We got on the hook and had fish on before the tide even started moving boating a 35” fish. Then the tide started to trickle and it was GAME ON as we started boating fish left and right for the next 2-3 hours. The only downside to all of this is that 5-10 knot wind out of the East they forecasted was more like 15-20 and the sheep were back stretching clear across the bay. But we didn’t mind it much because there were points where we had 2 fish on at a time! It was insane. Ahhhhhh the chunk bite we waited all year for was finally here. What a relief! There is nothing quite like the sound of a bait runner screaming off if you ask me. Total for the day was 8 for 10 with the biggest fish being 38 inches and we released a couple shorts and keep half a dozen for the table. Everyone is eatin’ good in the neighborhood this week. Not the larger bay fish we typically find but these guys all got a free ride home.

Here are some pictures of the catch from Sunday.

Take note how clean the water is!

    Way to go fellas!!!
