Doc, an autopsy was done Jan 30..the report was that it was a malignant anal sac tumor...I think an anal sac adenocarcinomas. It was about the size of an avocado. The tumor was removed...an incision of about 4 inches...it was vascular...some blood vessels had to be tied off...a small area of the anus was removed due to growth there. The vet stated 99.9% was removed. The anus was stitched and the wound was left to drain. I picked Shadow up this morning...and met back with the vet about 2:00 pm...the stitches had broken. The vet will flush out the area where the tumor was removed and restitch.

Shadow was in good spirits and has a good appitite.

I proably should have made this an email to you....but, looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Turkey sorry to hear about your dog. I know how bad it sucks. I just had to put my rotty down a few weeks ago because he had lymphoma. It came quick and it came bad. All his glands were swollen to the point that he couldn't get food down. I know its different than whats wrong with yours but basically the doc gave us three options. THe first was Chemotherapy. He said he had some dogs live for two more years but it cost 10k. I'm not sure of your position but 10 grand is a lot of money to spend on a house pet. Then there were steroids. It basically allowed the dog to live a little while longer before the cancer takes over completely. THe third option was to put him down. We decided it was best for the dog and for the family. We rescued him from the local pound and gave him a good home. You're in a shitty position and I don't envy it one bit. I hope you make the right call.
