Hmmmm... Deep Defiance going up against the Deep C !

Good luck to you guys... These should be some great events... Hinches is a first class operation and getting better. If I didn't have 21 years straight of placing in another event that weekend, I'd be there in full color! The competition should be notched up this year with a whole lot of learnin goin on in the offseason here. With the cool water we're looking at right now, my guess is that hinches may hit right at the peak time...

I agree with the cool water

Will have both our boats in the South Jersey and one in Jim's shark tournament but not sure about Hinch's as the cost may scare away some charter customers. We have two fellows that are fishing the SJ Shark Tournament that want to fish Hinch's but everyone that has called say they cannot afford it to date. They don't understand that to win good money you have to enter the big money Calcuttas and we will not fish a shark tournament without entering all the calcuttas. Had that happen back in the late 90's where we had the largest shark in the tournament but only won $17,000 as we were not in the all the Calcuttas. It could have been a much bigger payday for us and will never make that mistake again. I would really like to fish it this year and might pick up the difference out of pocket as it is a really great event and should be get even better this year than the first one last season. As people become more familar with this tournament I think it will grow in leaps and bounds every year. I refer to Hinch's as the last leg in the triple crown of sharking out of Cape May and the dates should be perfect this year for SJ sharking. I hope it is rough as hell as I am not a big fan of center console go fast boats and will enjoy seeing them go airborne trying to run 25 knts in 5-6 foot seas as I do down in Morehead City, NC in the winter months on rough days. Give me a nice 20-22 knot NE Lobster boat or a quality sportfisher with a salon to keep warm and dry anyday. At my age I would probably go into shock if I went over 40 knts with all the floating crap I see plus those big turtles that do not move. Had to just stir the pot a little here but I would not mind owning a bean bag chair but only for my living room so my grandchildren could play in it.

Deep Defiance, don't let Caveman ruffle your feathers, this is an ongoing joke between him and Clean Sweep. Personally I think center consoles have a big advantage boating big sharks, because you can bring the fish alongside and get more people involved in measuring and then dispatching them.
Who knows maybe there could be a brown bag center consoles vs bridge boats or outboards vs inboards
Anyway good luck to everyone fishing the 3 Cape May events this year and be safe.

I don't know about that because the biggest mako will be caught during the Cape May Shark Tournament
