Who went, who got skunked? Moon phase?

    Guys,

I am taking an informal poll on the full moon and the tuna bite. I haven't seen any smoking reports from Cape Cod in the last 24 hours on the net. It has been a full moon phase. So I am using circumstantial evidence at best. Maybe the hero reports are coming in late? Maybe it is an early season, mid-week thing?

But in my limited experience, I can get skunked on tuna in a fish store during the full moon.

Anyone want to share their results from the last 48 hours or so? Anyone want to share their opinion?

    Full Moon

I don't know what everyone else thinks - but every time I have gone fishing around a full moon - there are NO TUNA on the boat, except once - very early in the AM and the belly was super filled with bait fish - a lot more than usual. Full moon offshore trips still produce fish, but the Tuna are hard to come by - I heard they always gorge themselves because they can see the shadows of the bait above them.

its not often that someone comes beating on my door at 330am when im on the ship, and usually its a bad thing when it does happen. but last nite, the knock came and out i went to the bridge wing. all i can say is it was utter chaos. bait, tuna and birds (dont know where the hell they came from, havent seen more than 2 in 3 weeks). unfortunately the helideck on the bow of the ship was blockin most of the moon light, so i was unable to get any quality shots. so i dont get accused of bigfoot sightings like i did before, im not gonna bother posting them.

far as im concerned, Full Moon+ Middle of the Gulf= BIG F*CKIN YELLOWFIN

i have been skunked on full moon trips. I think the key is to find bait on a full moon night and stick with it.

Never had luck fishing the full moon or the day after, old folks say they fill up all night deep and dont feed the day after. maybe theres something to it.

it is rather dead outside rite now. occasionally a random tuna will fall out of the sky. cant tell what they are feeding on though. the rov's camera feed dropped out, but from about 200ft down to about 500ft there is some scattered bait rite now.

Trolled the NWC of Stellewagon today down to about the double L's and back, with nothing to show of it. Heard of at least one fish being caught. Maybe there is something to the full moon and tuna's, I guess I will just have to figure it out one day.

I had a good day today on the Bluefins out of cape may new jersey and I was a little worried about fishing the down side of the full moon as its bad fishing. Stew on the pez machine murdered the yellowfin out in the canyons, so who knows but there have been times the bite has all but stopped around a full moon and other times it breaks wide open.

We flipped the coin today and ended up with some yellowfin. The bite was very very late, but it did turn on. I hate fishin on a full moon especially one like last night, because I know that they were gorging all night long. It would have been a better trip to leave yesterday afternoon and set up along the break. We fished 1000 fathoms in the poormans today with a good dolphin bite and the yellows turning on late.
