Here is what I found on the Maxweld Cats...
They closed up shop and split. Their shop and their home are on the market right now. Nobody knows where they went to either. They left a pile of suppliers and workers unpaid and a bunch of clients with unfinished boats.

Several of his clients had to go down there and take their unfinished boats out of his yard. That lawsuit that you cited is just the first of many that are on their way. Turns out that they were in dire straights and using deposit money to try to get themselves out of the hole they were in. Just dug it deeper I guess.

As for World Cat....They have fixed every issue I've had, and when I say issue, I mean a bracket on the live well being replaced....and that about the extend of the issues we've had, and we fish the hell out of that boat.

If you run her reel easy with this load your ok. Using trim tabs are a must to get her to take off right. Overall the 150's are good on gas but I wished she had 250's to feel better powered. Boat rides very smooth in seas so that's the big plus

CANE.........YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!!

SPUN a prop offshore Friday on the way home. Wish I had taken your advice and put an extra prop on board for insurance. Limped in at 9 knots for 10 hours.

Once again this site proves how valuable it is. CANE gave me some advice that could have saved the day had I recognized and accepted the possibility of what happened to him could have happened to me.

    THANKS AGAIN for the insight!!

I worked for a company that sold Pro Kat and World Cat. Got quite a bit of time behind the wheel of many of their models. Each cat has its own quirks and it differed model to model. Have plenty of hours on the PK2660 rigged with Suzuki DF250s. Ran like a scalded dog, mid 50s top end. Performed well in Long Island Sound short chop and offshore of Montauk in rough weather. As stated before cats ride better at higher speeds. They have a weird feeling that will take a little time to get used to. Quartering seas will be the hardest to get used to. Take off behind a few boats in a tournament and you will understand what I mean. Make sure your passengers are holding on! Another PK2660 we sold had fuel tank issues. Both tanks were sliding around inside the sponsons due to faulty mounting tabs. That boat was rigged with Suzuki DF225s. We never sold one with 150s so I could not comment on your motor performance. I will tell you that trim tabs should only be used for getting on plane or slow speed operation. DO NOT push the bow down with your tabs at high speeds or in rough weather. Cats were designed to cut the waves not plow through them. Run your motor trim higher or lower to adjust ride angle before pushing the tabs down. Leveling your load by adjusting where you place things around the boat will help your ride also. Cats are great but I still prefer a mono-hull.
