IMNSHO, the absolute perfect White Marlin blank is the Calsar 700M. Although I have not actually fished with The Superseekers that are becoming popular, they do have a right decent action but a bit slow and a bit heavy when compared to the Calstar.
For the ultimate, truley dedicated, White Marlin Rod, I have learned a couple things the hard way. First and formost, this is a high performance rod--- more like a Lamborgini instead of a Freightliner--- weight is everything--- accepting the blank as given. No need for triple wrapped guides, no desire for a think wrapping finish, no need for aluminum reel seat, and most of all---- no desire for a plastic slick butt. The butt and arbor add a significant amount of weight and throw off the balance designed in the blank. Instead, a foam butt. Now, this assumes these rods will be use exclusevly for Dink White Marlin fishing and fished accordingly.
I made a full set of Calstar dink rods with all the bells and whistles and thought these were the shit until I put a true custom dink rod in my hand built by and for a proffessional exclusively for White Marlin fishing. Same exact blank but this wonderful rod weighed almost half as much as mine, and was balanced perfectly.---- nothing fancy about this rod--- in fact, rather plain Jane. The foam butt alone made a big difference in the weight and balance.
Save the stump pullers for the tuners, if you want a true specialized White Marlin dink rod, use a Calstar 700M ( or the comparable Superseeker), and minimize every component for weight--- it adds up. BTW, I am convinced the the new SIC mini turbo guides are a huge waste of money for such an application. There is absolutely no need for SIC guides on a rod that will only be used with 6 lbs of drag.---- you won't listen to me though, cause I'm guilty of it myself. We feel compelled to spend $9.00 for a guide simply because it must have better performance than a $4.00 guide.
For off the self factory rods--- I have seen nothing better than the Tallus Bluewater meduim heavy 6'6"series @ about $140 retail for this application.

I use a green machine
I use Seeker Project X's and the Calstar is a good blank too. I don't know what kind of money you want to spend but PM me your email address and I'll email you a picture of a pair of whitey rods I just built. They are the most unique rods you'll ever see. I don't know if you want something that's the cailber of the pair I've got, but if you're seriously in the market you've got to see them, they are incredible not to mention as cool looking as you can get. I will only sell them as a pair and if your interested I can build you more than the two. Give me your email you won't regret it.
Rais Rods, LLC and Hitman Gaffs LLC are both subsidiaries of Fat2na Sportfishing Inc. our gaffs are one of a kind as well and can be built to match the rods.
