All I can say is WOW!
Last night after looking at the forcast of SW 7-11 20-25 I was looking for plan A,B,C
A.) Heading deep in search of marlin if we could get a good course with speed.
B.) Target mainly tuna
C.) Stick out nose out the inlet and end up going back to the dock.
Turns out the forcast was botched as the entire week was rothers in hand and to the deep we went @ 27 there were a couple big ones mixed in but ate them with ease.
Get set up with a good plot in route plenty of bait and thermoclines. @ 30 ft. Marking plenty of large fishes thru out. Something we have not seen in days.
With a pop of a clip we had a YFT to the boat.
Trolling along the 8O WAY WAY back rips off going deeper and deeper. Thinking big eye, deeper and deeper. Waiting and watching the line at 7 O' clock to see what is going to come up, boat held tight and steady the line comes slack REEL REEL REEL, GO GO GO and the water Erupted with a Massive blue marlin at min 700 lbs Greyhounding towards us FASTER and Faster and back across the line she went breaking the mono and not the leader. We all had the same vocabulary at the same moment and I am sure that you can figure out what that was!!! That was a money monster honey of a blue marlin!
As I type this 65 off and hours later it still fricken sucks! Orange crushes here I come!!!
I consider it a creature when its that big. It was like a teradactul screaming as it shot out of the water. Utterely amazing and 100% speechless.
O-1 on white
O-1 on blue
1-1 on YFT
1 mystery mackeral bite a hoo most likely.
Oh well we did well and the next time better. I can't complain one bit 5 out of the last 8 days was spent offshore and did well overall!
