Day 1 Recap
255 Boats entered the tournament and 238 fished on day 1. Scales opened at 4PM. Canyon Express weighed in a 66lb white Marlin at 4:01. Jack Seidman was the Angler. A couple white marlin and a dolphin were weighed in the did not meet tournament minimums (65lb for a white marlin and 20 for a dolphin]. At 5:40 Special Purpose hung a 56 lb yellowfin [Angler Tim Pulice] for the first tuna of the day and a 66lb white marlin to tie for 1st. Finchaser then got on the board with a 21.5lb Mahi, The scales got busy around 6PM with a 59lb tuna from Shelly K, a dolphin from Lori M and a small white from Canyon Blue, Why Not weighed a 58lb tuna. Reel Passion with a 58.5lb tuna , a 55.5 lbh tuna a 66.5lb white marlin and a 74lb white marlin to take both 1st and 2nd place. Pumpin Hard 66 came in with a 57lb tuna. At 7pm No Limits brought a 60lb tuna to the scales to take over 1st in the tuna division. Sea Hag then brought 4 tuna to the scales, 64lb, 63.5, 65 and 64.5 to take over the top of the tuna division. No limits held the lead for only 7 minutes., Fighting Chance weighed a 58.5lb tuna followed by Hap Hazard with a 61 lb tuna.Crush em weighed a 59.5lb tuna followed by a large dolphin from Restless Lady at 31.5lbs to take the lead in dolphin. Flight Deck and Reel Pleasure weighed in tuna under 60lbs. The Sea Hunt then weighed in a 70.5 lb tuna at 7:30 to take 1st place, 3 lead changes in tuna in 30 minutes. Then a 26.5lb dolphin for the Alican ,a 30.5lb dolphin for Pipe Dreamer a 27 lb dolphin for Reel Desire and the a beautiful 53.5lb bull dolphin for Top Gun to take 1st place by a wide margin. That's going to be hard to beat

At 8PM as darkness fell Heart to Heart weighed a 67 lb white marlin to take over 2nd place. Legacy weighed a 25.5lb dolphin. 20 minutes later Sea Note hung a 74lb white marlin to tie for 1st place. Another 67lb white marlin was weighed in by King Fisher. As the weigh in headed to the 8:30 mark Sea Flame weighed in a 63lb tuna. Then with 20 minutes to go Scandalous brought in the first blue marlin at 790lbs. Another 67lb white marlin came in with 8 mkinutes to go giving Shelly 2 a tie for 2nd. Then as the scales were closing White Lightning brought in a 51.5 dolphin to take second place. 2 huge dolphin in the last hour. Chasin Tail came in with a 61lb tuna and Fish Whistle with a 68.5lb white marlin. Marlin Magic had 2 tuna 64 and 63.5lbs. Singularis has 2 white marlin 64 and 71.5lbs. The weigh in ran late as boats were stacked up. Endorfin had a 67.5 lb white and Xtasea weighed a 46lb tuna. Master Plan with a 62.5 tuna and then Troublemaker weighs a 78.5lb white marlin to take 1st place. Dirty Girl weighed a 58.5lb tuna. The last boat, That's Right moved into 1st place in the tuna division with 76.5lbs and a second fish of 65lbs. The scales finally close at 11:03. Some boats waited in line for 2 hours or more to weigh in. More than 60 fish weighed in, a new WMO single day record.
