Our day began on Sunday morning. Boat was ran down from Cape May to Harbor Island upon backing in to the slip we here clank clankstrb lower making a good awful noise. Messed around checked a few things and sure as anything blown gear case. We picked up a piece of fishing line coming down.
The fun begins its Sunday 2pm and everything is closed and the phone calls start rolling. Coty Marine ending up bringing a lower unit down to Cape May to come across the ferry. Admin was bringing our trailer down because he was covering the tournament. Bad news Mar can't get on the ferry, I left my drivers license somewhere and they will not let me onSo John drives around and down with the lower.
Timmy from Team ROCK ON 36FA slip neighbor helped us out with getting a trailer down here so we could at least get her out and ready for the lower.
Monday morning arrived at Harbor Marine let the check over the other lowers just in case and put the new lower up all is well. We dropped the boat of within 2 hours she was read to rock!
Decided to blow Monday off for fishing for the reason of to many things could go wrong. The lower was in route but ETA midnight. Screw it I called it a bad idea, what if something goes, just not a good idea.
Tuesday roll out 5am get set up at 4 minutes to 8:30 drop in and go to town. I had a really good idea of where I wanted to be just had to find just the right spot. When getting the Calcutta's together, blue felt true, white was not right.
1 mahi to start the day off big enough for a samich!
We had good water 79-80 deg water all day
9:26 boat # 204 HOOKED UP with a Blue Marlin - She put on a show like no tomorrow, just beautiful nailed it and off she went. The game was on!!I love when days start off like this, just can't get any better than that!
She came in and she was tailed wrappedbut alive. Got her spun around unwrapped and the revival process started. She was a healthy fish, wasn't very long at all before she was tagged and swam away
Estimate at mid 300's
We had a few whites tag and release themselves throughout the day.
Center back 80 lit up with a huge mack on it, it went down hard and deep. Not knowing exactly what we had we decided to play it safe. Closer and Closer it came to the boat, from the depth and the shine it almost looked like a hoo. But instead a nice YFT for the box, estimated at 75 - 80 LBS.
GREAT DAY! I was thrilled with what we did, one of those whites would have been nice but I am not greedy!
Days end 1 blue release, 1 YFT tuna, 1 Mahi and lots of life out there!
We were 94.5 out, had a great ride out and a very nice ride in at 46 mph -Total fuel burned 221.5
Back on for tomorrow to GET ER DONE!
John/Admin as always YOU ROCK!
As to the crew I have a new vocabulary courtesy of Joe and Mike! All kinds of health education was going on, and now I know!
Just too much information for me! Jimmy awesome work on the rods and Chuck great work at the helm!
