Where to fish in FL in Jan.

I will be in Orlando, FL the second to last week in January for work. I was thinking about staying the weekend(25,26,27) for some fishing. What is hot that time of year? I am looking to go offshore. Any recommendations for something thats 2 -3 hours from Orlando? Any specific boats/captains? Thanks in advance for your help.
SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.....

Get down to my end of the state, (Palm Beach or south)... North west to east wind will have the sails chewin. If it goes southeast and calm the swords will be the game...

I charter out my Albemarle for up to four people. Its busy that time of year. If I'm jammed up we have other great guys on here that can help...

    Full time inshore/offshore guide.
You can fly into Ft Lauderdale in less than an hour.

You can be on the sailfish in less than 45 minutes once you land.
We fish them less than a mille from the port.

The fish settle down here in Jan.

If you want em we got em! Give me a buzz I will have the Bertram waiting for ya!~

    18 lb.Brown on fly: 6x tippet, 106 lb.Atl.Sail: Ft.Laud, 888 lb. Mako Cozumel, 950+ Blues St.T

    Ft. Laud or Miami

Deep is right on target...imagine that huh....I think that'd be a blast to fish with him.
In Ft Laud...The Big Game with Capt Paul or Andy Roydhouse in fishing headquarters A1A south bound, 'bout half mile north of Bahia Mar.
Rick Brady or Taco in Bahia Mar.
You can find them all on-line with a good search.....
You'll be asking about fishing with kites and live bait if u want sailfish...which is the ticket that time of year....like Deep said, if you catch the wind in just about any northerly direction (coming from the north) NW, N, NE, NNE, soon as it goes East it can slow a little....caught 19 sails one afternoon in Ft. Laud after the wind backed-up (went to SE) and the fish stopped moving down and started pouring back to to the north....strange sight...I think they all met head on and decided en-mass to go back north, truth was stranger than fiction that day. But NE is when they chew best usually.
Ft. Laud., Haulover or Miami...you're fishing in less than 40 min from the dock in most cases....and catch and release sails are on the menu...release menu that is....replica-mounts sir are the norm.

Just to throw in some variety. Up North a bit (St Auggie area) the wahoo bite is usually wide open, if you can get offshore. They tend to bite best right around a new/full moon. We get some studs too! Thick shoulders, hard runners. But its a longer run to the fish. Starts about 45 miles out. If the troll is off, then bottom fishing can save the day.

Just throwing that option out. Its only about 1 hour and 30 mins from Orlando. If we get anything with N in it, we sit at the docks. In that case Sails would def be the cats meow.
