What's your most memorable trip of the year?

It's almost 2009, so maybe it's time for a little reflection. This is a video of the best time I had this year. Got to actually go fun fishing with some of my best friends. We caught a pile of gaffers and then we hooked this blue one. Nice day... Wish there were more like that...

I had two great trips this year. My birthday day trip at the middle grounds 7 yellows 2 eyes. Then two weeks later 11 yellows. Either way great two trips considering there wasn't too much going on in august in the canyons or so they said.

    2008 WMO

on Friday mornin last day of Tourny lines in 8:30, first 2 baits in the water we hook a double on Whites, pull one off at the boat while the other one is tryin to spool us, we have her on close to 45 minutes run her down 3-4 times and can't get the leader or a shot at her, we get a look at her and everybody on the boat knows she's easily 100lbs. We get within 4-5 feet on the last go and pull the hook on her, See Ya, you could have heard a pin hit the deck when she came unglued that's our most memorable trip of 08 and we are sick everytime we talk about it, that day was burned in the "Memory Banks" for awhile, now it's just another fish story on a happier note I did have a 10 for 16 day & 11 for 18 day on Whites out of O.C.MD.

Being able to make a trip back to OC/MD in July was my trip of the year. I got to spend the day with my Dad and Uncle, and boys and girls it doesn't be any better than that. The fish we caught was just a bonus.
I will take a second to jack this thread and implore EVERYONE to make a concerted effort to spend time whether fishing, hunting, or something mutually enjoyable with the ones you love. There are literally dozens of threads on this site where fellow members have lost loved ones and are kicking themselves for not doing more. We all get caught up in the dad to day grind, and we all have excuses…please, if you make one New Year resolution... make it this one!!
I hope everyone has a Blessed New Year!!!

Had a great trip this year running offshore.. the 1st of two trips we made this year due to the lack of fish and high costs of fuel was enough for me to stay at the dock..

left late morning and started heading off to only find a ton of bait and fish about 15 miles inside of 100 fathom..

threw 8 rods in the water and worked my way north on the 50 line and inshore of it and wham bamm thank you maam!! all the rods doubles over and fish on!!

we stopped trolling at dark and anchored up to catch some smaller yft and a bigger dusky shark and up on the troll in the morning for somem more yft and found them!!

ended up catching our limit on fish to 50lb or so and a bunch of smaller fish and released a ton of fish!!

for the way the fishing went this year i am going to say that it was a great day with a ton of fish even though they were not all keepers they were really fun!

i got to say this past year the most memorable trip was the weekend of the Challenge Cup - we caught - but what i saw was even more spectacular - I was up on the bridge starring a bait balls covered up with white marlin - bird play every where - national geographic had nothing on this - The Covert Mission didnt have enough flags on board - If i heard about another Judge release i would have cried.....the billfisher and the D.A Sea were racing to bird play -The dozen that was caught on the Insure......Boats with rigger full of flags. It was a season like none other..........probably one of the best ones yet in my life (However ive got many more to come)! Ive gotten to fish with amazing captains and anglers on some of the best boats in the area - I plowed my way through Ocean City Maryland, caught mroe bluefin tuna on the Tunabite then i would have like too and then resurfaced in Cape May by the time the bite was red hot......Congrats to all for a great 2008 and heres to 2009 - i cant wait to see whats in store!!!! and i promise to take more pictures!!!

I heard through the grape vine you guys couldnt catch jack S##%T because you had a sucky crew that couldnt hook whitey? any truth to this???

My most memorible trip this year is going 6 for 9 on whites, and seeing about 5 more, and catching a 300ish blue one... Not to mention a pile of gaffers all about 15 to 25#. plus a father and son team that are new to offshore fishing...

I heard those guys couldn't catch their ass with both hands.

My most memorable trip this year was probably the last day of the Mid Atlantic 500,000 when we caught 250-300 pound blue on a dink rod and a couple whites.

I would say its a tie between our 13 wm day with Howard on the Tuna bite. I think it was that many but I really can't remember. That day or during the tuna tournament we were trolling across one of the sausages. We saw a blue one tailing in front of us. I got in front of the fish and the fish disappeared. Next thing I know he eats on left AND RIGHT rigger baits. But on one hell of a show in pond like conditions.
