    what's your favorite sunblocking gear?

Hi this is Jon Schwartz guys. I am interested in hearing your experiences and preferences on all the new sunblocking gear, including shirts and hats. I know it's not as "cool" to wear long sleave shirts and those silly looking hats with extra long brims and the dog ears, but I am seeing so many people come down with skin cancer problems in the angling community that I want to get serious about protecting myself.
There was a great article on the subject in Bluewater Boats and Sportfishing Magazine ( from Australia) about 8 months ago. Anyway, my last trip to Panama, I promised myself that I would wear a long sleave shirt from now on. My needs are for the super hot tropical environments, so whatever feels the lightest and breathes the most, while still blocking sun, is good. I am getting tired of slathering on gobs of 50 SPF, and then I sweat so bad in 20 minutes that the stuff is all over the place including my camera gear. I'd rather only put it on places that remain exposed after I cover up with a long sleave shirt, maybe pants, and a hat.
Thanks everyone in advance for your input. I'm back off to Panama in ten days so I still have time to order some clothes to try so fire away with suggestions please!
Also I wanted to share my most recent magazine cover shot, it's the current cover of Saltwater Sportsman, and if you go to my blog listed below you can see pics of the girl in action. Yes, she did catch that fish (not IGFA rules but she did 90% of the work) and the fish was released right after I took the photo.

I have a head buff and it is actually really comfortable...it is most refreshing when you take it off at the end of the day. otherwise just a little sunscreen.

After a few bad burns over the years

I am trying to be extremly carefull.

There is no real need for me to be a fashion statement to fish i want to kill.
And i really dont care what other guys think

Remembering to slap lotion on while fishing and getting all slopped up $ucks.

The new clothes seem to work well.

I have used a few brands.
the columbia long sleve is nice.
    cabelas shirts are OK
    pants are good.
bass pro pants seems thinner.(fear of ripping)
    shirts are ok

i have also tried the "t-shirt" type.
they are nice, but leave alot around neck exopsed..
which is where a nice buff would work.

i just got a new buff for face/neck protection.

This year am trying the new columbia B+G and underarmour.
    they seem nice so far.

i hope to see some more options with these clothing.
It seems to be a very needed thing.

    i am easy to spot

I wear old office shirts with the cuffs rolled up a little and long trousers (something fairly thin but reasonably durable) most of the time. I get some odd looks sometimes for dressing so "formally" but it seems to work well for me and I get some extra use out of my office shirts when they get too worn out to wear to work.

The most important thing for me though, as far as preventing sunburn is concerned, is to stay in the shade as much as possible.

    Under Armour

I have become a big fan of Under Armour and the performance shirts by Old Harbor Outfitters. I was introduced to them by a friend in Costa Rica, and wear the long sleeve shirts on most every trip now. I am in the process of having some fishing art put on some new shirts. (Thanks Mark Ray!!!) They really are more comfortable than cotten shirts.

Sometimes I wear the sun protection clothing and sometimes suncreen...The suncreen I use is mexoryl based...made by L'Oreal...I used to get it off ebay but since fda approved mexoryl, I can now buy it in the US stores...And I do believe the research that mexoryl is one of the best against uva and uvb rays...I use only 2 applications in a fishing day and it holds up to the water.

On the clothing end...The Buff UV protection (head/face scarf) is becoming very popular with fishermen in South Fla...I've tried different styles...and kind of like em.

I wish they kept producing the Thermz. http://www.thermz.com/
There are still a few sizes and colors left on the site for cheap.
Cooler than a long sleeve t.

The hat is made by columbia. Only problem is if its windy, you can't wear the hat.

As said above, the buffs are popular here in S Florida now.

Skinny Water Culture is the same material shirt as the Thermz were. http://skinnywaterculture.com/ They are getting pretty big here in West Florida.

I have really tried protecting my skin with those special shirts and all that but I absolutely CANNOT wear clothing in the hot sun. It's miserable (for me) to have long sleeves on, lol. So I choose to keep wearing my bikini but lather in SPF lotion & SPF chapstick. Kaenon sunglasses for my eyes of course. Visor. That's about all I can manage.
