I custom order a Pink, Lime geen, purple, and magenta one that really tears them up.
Blue and white.... there is always atleast one out in the spread, usually run one on each outrigger. Black and purple has always done well along with black and red fished deep
I WISH I HAD A NICKEL FOR ALL THE FISH...MEAT AND BILLFISH ...THAT I CAUGHT ON A BLUE/WHITE/CHROME HEAD ILANDER.....LONG BEFORE THE CUTE COLORED HEADS CAME OUT TO CATCH THE CONSUMER EYE
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE CHROME HEAD
NOW IT SEEMS CRYSTAL IS MORE POPULAR THAN WHITE....DOESN'T MATTER TO ME THOUGH....THE FISH ARE GOING AFTER THE MOVEMENT ANYWAY
REMEMBER AN ILANDER HAIR IS WAY TOO LONG....
ALWAYS TRIM THE INSIDE SHORT HAIR COMPLETELY OFF AS IN "OFFSHORES" PHOTO .......AND I LIKE TO TAKE APPX 1 1/2 INCH OFF THE MAIN BODY OF HAIR
THE LONG HAIR HANGS UP ON THE HOOK , FISH WILL GRAB THE EXTRA HAIR LENGTH AND YOU WILL THINK YOU ARE HOOKED UP WHEN YOU ARE NOT....... AND THE INSIDE HAIR GETS ALL JAMMED UP IN THE LEAD PIECE
Thanks for the info. Looks like I will be picking up a lot more blue/white ilanders.
How short should I make the hair on the body? about 7 - 8 inches long? I have one blue/white (chrome head) and it is 12" long with the hair. Maybe it is an older model? The head is heavier and slightly bigger than the normal ilander.

1. Blue/Crystal or white
2. Black/Red
3. The E series is awesome in Pink/Blue and Pink/White
I like to trim the inner hair out of it on most of my skirts as well.
GlennW called me yesterday and was telling me about the crystal...I got to get me a couple! The last couple of years I have had great luck on the BF's with all pink and a pink head...they chewed the heck out of that thing.
I got hauled out last Friday at Bayliss Boatworks and I'm still on the hill...I've done my work but they are doing a couple of things for me. I should be back in the water in the next couple of days. Since the yellowfins are up off Oregon Inlet now I think I am just going to stay tied up in Manteo and not go to Hatteras this year...save me the cost of the slip.
