Last year trolling around the biggest group of pilot whales and porpoise I have ever seen. They started jumping and flipping like at Seaworld while others were swimming at the bow of the boat, when all of a sudden we heard the loudest banging noise you can imagine
We all started checking compartments, until we finally realized one of the porpoises tail smacked the bow

Mute Swans
Out on the bay in a heavy fog. First time I ever heard mute swans flying. They make a really strange high-pitched rhytmic whooshing sound. Until they came out of the fog I thought aliens were landing for sure.

24" zip ties zipped to the shaft with the tag ends left on as a practical joke. Flapping against the boat. In gear it sounded like the tranny was getting ready to blow up.

the strangest sound I have heard is a 469 mako with a previsously live blue fish in its mouth steaming pass the side of the boat heading away from the stearn. The rod was in free spool so she had time to savor the sweet oily blue. The sound was a low level resonating hum. Like a distant train working the tracks in a rail yard. She was moving at a good clip and then the sound was gone. A dog leg right 13 seconds total time here and the sound came back, never getting louder just that resonating hum, as she rushed the surface.....game on !!!!!!!!! @ 15 yards off the port !!!!!!!!!!!!!

the strangest sound i ever heard
was running real hard doing about 23knots pasted cape may fifty cent bridge around midnight and then coming to a violent halt and the only sound I heard was a chorus of crickets cirping away. i soon learn that I veered offcourse and beached the boat on the side of a marsh. 24hrs and 12k later the boat returned to my slip.
