What to spool onto Penn 70vs

    Hello everyone,
I have 3 Penn 70vs that I need to spool up for the upcomming season. Main target will be bluefin tuna between 100-200lbs with a decent chance for a few hookups with smaller giant classed fish. I'm leaning towards ~600yrds 130 JB hollow with a ~200yrd topshot of 100-130 Momoi Diamond. I thought about going with the 200lb braid but it would limit my reel capacity and just seems like overkill. Thoughts? Anyone spooled up a 70vs before- I would love to hear how many yards of backing/topshot you fit into the reel.

    Thanks,

    Michael

    Spot on. I'll second that.

I did my 70's with straight 100#. on my 80's I did 130 dacron with 130 mono on top of that.
with the 70's you could certainly do 130 dacron (cheaper than the spectra, yet serves the same purpose) with 100 or 130 on top.

Thats a good combo. I spool my 50 wide with the same config. You can attach the top shot with a PR Bobbin not. Just as strong. Use them all the time, Caught many 300 lb plus Bluefin on them.. IF U USE THE PR KNOT YOU WILL NOT NEED HOLLOW CORE. IF YOU NEED ANYTHING I GET IT FOR A GREAT PRICE. Good Luck..
