    mmm, Mrs Hays.

What fish do you see here ?

So, you're many miles away from blue water, on vacation in a strange country, and you decide to take a walk down the dock one morning, as any fisherman would do. There's a box of fish on the quay, and you take a peek.

What species do you see in this picture ? Do you see what I think I see ??

    More details later.....

croakers, white trout, something similar to a kingfish(barbeled kind), I think a snook, some kind of jack underneath? I'm guessing surf fishing.

Im gonna go out on a limb and guess the box is fairly small-sort of deceptive in the photo. I see croaker, sea mullet (whiting), sand perch(which is what makes me thin the box is small because sand perch are rarely 8" long), possibly a grey trout (weakfish) and is that a ribbonfish on the bottom left corner? All look like a typical coastal carolina surf catch for this time of year except for the whatever the hell that is in the bottom left.

    1. It's a big box. Commercial netting tray size. Look at the tyre being used as a fender.

    2. Where these fish were caught is very nearly 5000 miles from Morehead City.

Ok then..... african giant croaker, african giant whiting, african giant sand perch, possibly african giant grey trout, and is that an african ribbonfish in the bottom corner? All look like a typical coastal african surf catch for this time of year except for the whatever the hell that is in the bottom left.

Seriously they look a lot like american fish- and I am very familiar with commercial fish boxes so those things must be much bigger than their american cousins.

Buy "many miles from blue water" I assume you mean these fish were from fresh water. They sure look like an inshore saltwater catch though. Are you going to fill us in or just keep feeding us line?

I'd say the little critter, lower left hand side, might take a bite out of ya if ya we're to lip him.

Looks like kob, cape salmon, and maybe a kingklip in the mix... If that was the case I'd think closer to 6500 miles from MHC but I could be wrong...

One oddball in that mix looks to be a pompano or permit.
