the striped fish next to the corner fish is a golden dorado. The corner fish is a Payara albiet a little one I think. Or else its just a bunch of croakers, drum and trout and you were fishing in Crisfield![]()
Did you go down to Brazil and fish and not invite Jer to come along?
Deep is da man. He spotted what I spotted, but then Capt Buffington also chimed with another thought.
The fish box is from the quay in Montevideo, Uruguay.
I think fish 2 is a whitemouth croaker (micropogonias furnieri).
I think fish 3 is a drum of some sort, can't find out which exactly.
I think fish 4 is a king weakfish (macrodon ancylodon).
Now, fish 1 and 5 pose a wee bit of conundrum. Is, as Buffers thought, fish 1 a snook of some sort ? And is fish 5 a permit ?? It'd be easy to call it a pompano, but I'd prefer to think it's a permit. Whatever it is, there's another in the box anyway, below the tail of fish 1.
To the right of fish 5 there might be a striped weakfish (cynoscion guatucupa).
There, that's all there is to it. Bit of a puzzle, and a gentle reminder to anyone who might be going to Uruguay on holiday (and I understand it is a great place to go) - don't forget a surfcasting rod. Fishing looks good !
I assume Robja will correct me on species and stuff. I'd love to know more about the "permit". Fishbase.org gives them going as far south as Brazil, so it's a possibility....
Fish 5 sure looks like a Piranha to me.![]()
#5 is a mojarra or "sand perch"
#2 looks like a dammed striped redfish
#4 looks like a trout
#3 is what happens when you combine a black drum, a whiting and a bottle of apple pie moonshine
mmmmm i could use some apple pie right now....then i will look simmilar to #5 hahaha
