Thumbs up Wednesdays rockfish massacre..... fast, easy limit at cape henry

This afternoon I had Steve Lorcher and his brothers aboard for a half day. The plan was to pull out of rudee sometime after noon and fish for stripers until about dark. We pulled out shortly after twelve and ran up to cape henry. Got the spread set up just outside the area where I wanted to fish and as soon as I got into the area where I wanted to fish, (along the channel edge inside of the junction buoy), it was on. Raining 20# rockfish. All you wanted. We caught them 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 at a time. We made a quick limit and released a crap load too. Almost all fish were 32'' to 40'' and after about 45 crazy minutes, these guys were tired of cranking and ready to go home. We even cut the spread back to three rods so they could get some rest and we started catching them on them two at a time on our tandem rigs. Southwest winds about ten miles an hour made for a pretty ride home along the Virginia Beach resort strip. water temp was 48. They bit everything. Hot color was anything moving in the water. Good fishing.

I still have plenty of charter dates available from $550 for a half day of trolling and $700 for eeling. Call me at 757-749-6008 to get set up or check my site at www.matadorcharters.com. Thanks, Jake

    Capt Jake,

Great report and some terrific fishing! Man, you've sure got your poop together! That kind of fishing, that close, for great eating, freezer-filling fish? Man, folks should be lining up to fish with you and I hope that they are. I know that I sure would be if I were back there, bum heart and all!

    Wow!

    Cool Friday report

Hey Capt Jake- we made the run today (Fri) from OI. The early bite sounded pretty awsome but we had 70+ mi to get there.

We got a nice catch of 10 to 15 1b class fish. Never found the biggens before we headed back to OI.
