    Website Hosting

Do any charter operations have the name of a reliable fishing website host? In particular, I am looking for a company to 1. create a fishing website that will have capabilities to easily update current fishing reports and pictures, 2. will anayze website traffic and be able to give sound reccomendations on advertising. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Fish On,

    Mike

I went thru the same questions 2 years ago. The main concern was to be able to update reports daily with pix and be able to to do it without being a techhead. I ended up doing it myself and get all the stats I can handle along with visiting ip addresses so I know how far we reach.

Basically I went thru godaddy for hosting and domain and they have software called website complete and website tonite for under $20 bucks plus you pay a onetime license fee per domain that you develop. Updating the site for whatever takes minutes and uploading the domain to the web takes seconds. I bought the domain and hosting services for their 3 year package. Very reasonable if you are willing to invest a little time of your own.

I really didn't want to do it myself. But the runaround and variance in quotes from different folks drove me to it. Had I known about admins services I likely would have went that route. But being as things are, I'm pleased with how things worked out.

i did my own site also - wanted the flexibility of changing things up whenever/however I wanted, plus I needed it as inexpensive as possible.

I looked at godaddy and others, and finally decided on freewebs.com

I have been very happy with it so far, very easy to work with and more than enough space for everything. I have only used a small percentage of what is available to me so far.

I am sure there are many services that can help you, and may be very reasonable in cost also. In my search, all "services" were much more than I was able to spend. They may be able to make a little better site, but so far I am very happy with what I have and the price.

as Luckydrew said - I too would likely have tried out Admin's service if I had looked into it. At the time I was still pretty new to SFC and not really aware it was available. This was my first website and I was not positive exactly what I wanted so for me, the route I chose was the best.

good luck, whatever route you choose
