We Let The Dogs Out
I mentioned in the last report that dorado and cubera snapper were the order of the day down here in La Paz right now, but the pictures kinda shorted the cuberas. I'm here today to rectify that problem, courtesy of the Adkins boys. These guys are accomplished bass fishermen from the central valley of California. Once or twice a year they come down to La Paz to deal with fish that you can't kiss when you catch them, and that won't fit in the live well. Being true fishermen they have become addicted over the years to the challenge of cubera snapper fishing. These fish are the piscatorial equivalent of sumos, terribly strong on their charge, remarkably quick for their size. They are in to spawn, in 50 feet of water over stiletto sharp rocks and coral, and love to enhale a 5 pound sabalo (ladyfish). These guys have gotten better at it over the years, and can stand alone in the ring with these battlers as well as any of our customers. The pictures tell the story. Along with some nice dog photos there is one of a local wahoo. The darker fish in the pargo pic is what we call a cabrilla down here, or a leopard grouper in other places, and this is a big one for here, taken when pargo fishing.

P.S. World Record Dinner
Forgot to mention that the leopard grouper in the beach picture with the 2 cuberas weighed 38 pounds. They had it cleaned on the beach, and when they got back to town they mentioned that they had a 38 pound "cabrilla" I went for the IGFA book and looke, current record 22, and I"M THE REP. It was delicious.
