Washington 10/4 Report
Headed out on Friday for an overnight and turned around due to the rough seas. Didn't want to get beat up all night so we made some cocktails and headed in. Regrouped and headed out Saturday morning with my Dad, John (aka the Pirate) and Danielle (my wife). Nice ride to the Washington with a couple hundred other boats! Started around 760 line in 40 fathoms. Had a mystery bite first thing then a yellowfin and a dolphin within 15 minutes. Had a white take a whack at the short rigger dropped back and nothing. A little while later we released a small mako that hit a purple and black wahoo whacker. The bugger wouldn't stay still to let me measure it but we figured it was short. Worked south and east and followed a long thin weedline east into the Washington for a few miles without a bite. Did see hundreds of pilot whales in the canyon and a few pods of dolphins with no bites. Headed back inshore and Danielle fed and hooked her first white around 2:30. Unfortunately it came unbuttoned after a few minutes after a great show. Found some bailers under a log before we headed in to catch the 6:00 bridge. No wahoo bites but we did put a little meat in the box. Should have stayed inside all day but it was a pretty day offshore nonetheless.
