    Warm Weather - Season Trends?

We've been experiencing pretty mild weather so far this season. Historically have any of you noticed changes in the normal activity of our gamefish when this occurs? I realize that there are many variable when is comes to predicting the seasons ahead of us. Just curious what you guys think.

    Thanks for the input!

This is quite probably the warmest winter we have had... Been like 80 every day and south east prevailing wind... Good trolling but tough to really squash the sails...
My mate says he's having the best bass fishing he has ever had for any time of year and hes in north jersey! It may be a early push for the makos and the marlin could go on fire for extended periods. Hell we could even see them come back inside like they did years ago...

Mild winters (especially those coupled with drought years) usually lead to good tuna action in the mid atlantic (think last winter and last summer).

    makos and marlin in NJ

    Deep,
What's happening big guy? Do you think a weather period like this will bring the makos and threshers to the mud and glory hole earlier this year?.... say May or April? I think the temps in the mud hole are 50 degrees or their abouts. When was the last time you saw whites and blues in the glory? I am itching to pull the shrink wrap off the Reg and your thoughts would be a welcome motivator for a March or April launch versus my normal May splash. Let me know! Thanks,
    Greg

I would bet the hole will be sporting jaws fish by the end of may. I would also guess that the hudson will be on fire early if we can get a back eddy to feed into already warmer water than usual. I would think that the SJ shak will be on fire! Mako Mania might actually come after the peak?
Stipers are solid in the shrewsbury and navesink rivers and there are giants here and there not far from the beach. Even medium size bluefins near the wrecks... Thats something I never saw in January before...
I have had the whites solid at the Ha buoy before. In fact my best day ever was there with 17 of them... The glory could hold yellowfins and even a blue marlin easily if this warm continues with no real winter setting in...

I have a feeling that we going to have a very cold spring and that always seems to screw up fishing. Hope I'm wrong but when we have a winter this warm we in NC have a cold March, April and sometimes May.
    MirrOlure when big fish count!
