WAHOOOOOOO!!!!
Just a little report offshore the SC/NC line. Wahoo and Tuna are here in mass. Saturday, fished the Steeples, within 10 minutes of the baits in the water, hookup with a wahoo. Run off 100 yards and spit the hookup, 15 minutes later, YTF skys on the bait just out of the prop wash, runs off 50 yards and spits, grab the rod and feed it back and WAM!! Hooked up, thought it was the tuner but after a twenty minute wrastlin match we gaff a 45lb wahoo. Both fish hit a BLUE/White Islander fished just behind the boat in the clean water of the prop wash. We had been fishin the CCA rodeo out of Ocean Isle Beach, so we immediately came inshore to try our hand at picking up a nice king before weigh in. On the way in, TUNA were busting just inshore the Steeples. These fish were in the 30 to 50 lb range. Too bad we didnt have time to try to pick some up.
Spoke with a friend fishin the Winyah Scarf area and learned he had 13 wahoo and one around 80lb on his handheld scale. All these were caught before 11:30. He also said he saw tuna busting there. Nows the time to go!!
