The wind laid out and the ledges off Little River gave up her bounty Saturday and Sunday. Saturday saw two boats fishing with one Wahoo being weighed that evening at HarborGate Marina.
It was a decent fish caught aboard the RUSSELL HATT weighing 38.92 lbs. A sigh of relief was heard on the docks because many felt that fish could get bumped later in the week.
Sunday came and some 20 boats made the trip offshore, they were met with light winds and a flat ocean. Throughout the day boats landed Mahi, Tuners and Wahoo. Even a couple of Makos were hooked with one being landed. Anticipation was high knowing that several fish had been caught and all were keeping mum on what they had.
At the docks the truth was reveiled when HOOYAH decked a huge WAHOO! The scales put the fish at 87.88 lbs. As others came to weigh in, we realized that many wahoo had been caught and boats were rushing to make the weigh in on time.
By the end of the weigh, the 87.88 lber was atop the leaderboard with a 38.92 RUSSELL HATT and 38.52 START ME UP, pulling up the next largest fish.
So far with 6 days left to fish, the leaderbaord stands like this:
Wahoo 87.88 lbs caught aboard the HOOYAH
38.92 lbs caught aboard the RUSSELL HATT
38.52 lbs caught aboard the START ME UP
Mahi 28.18 lbs caught aboard the DIRTY MARTINI
Tuna 10.68 lbs caught aboard the RANDYS PHYL
20 some boats still in the battle with 6 days left to get it done. I'll keep you posted as the leaderboard changes.
