NC Wahoo on the rocks (Big Rock)

Well the Wahoo fishing was red hot Sunday on the Big Rock we had several Wahoo bites plus there was all the Dolphin you wanted to bail but we decided to leave them alone & stick to the Wahoo. Every one of the bites came from the long rigger or the bridge pole (80w about a 1/2 a spool back). We had one or two bites on the down rigger & that was all. On the long rods, I was pulling an Islander with a med. ballyhoo. Just before lunch there was a big rip that formed on top of the Rock & most of the fish came on the offshore side of it. We had one fish that was a little better than average. Until next time.

Question on leader used for when wahoo are targeted

Up in NJ we have been getting bit off quite a bit on wahoo this season with the warm wather offshore. We do not target wahoo up here but get them while tuna trolling by accident most times. We use light 80 pound leader on our ballyho rigs but that does not hold up to the hoos teeth very well.
Are you getting bites on 90 lb wire down around the Big Rock or heavier mono.
    Thanks
    Capt John

Where you getting bit off by these wahoo? I am looking to put the high speed spread out and capitalize on this recent bite.

Great pic, I attached one from the Canyon Fishing Team, 77lb Wahoo and nice YFT at The Big Rock this week, on a red and black Canyon Jet.

The waters have been looking great with good billfishing so far.
