    Veteran’s Day-Texas Towers Veterans Recognition

Thank you and your fellow servicemen for manning one of Americas first offshore
defense warning system. In the 1960’s you weathered severe conditions, hostile seas and
potentially invading Soviets spying on us from the air and seas from aboard the Texas Towers in the Atlantic Ocean.
A little known defense perimeter, the Texas Towers were a 24/7 radome facility 75 miles
out by the Hudson Canyon. During a severe winter Nor’easter in 1961, the tower collapsed taking 28 men with it. These bodies were never recovered.
The NDBC buoy 44066 has been named in your honor, 44066/ Texas Tower 4 Buoy.
Thank you and your fellow airmen for your service during those tense years.
We honor you for your courage, dedication and care for this country.

Thumbs up Thank You Texas Tower Veterans

great post....the sacrifices of so many VETS are often overlooked...each and everyday that we enjoy our freedoms we should remember that those who served and are presently serving enable us to do so...
