I THEN NOTICED A VERY FAMILIAR LOCAL ARTIFICIAL LURE HANGING ON THE WALL....I KNOW THE LURE VERY WELL BECAUSE A FRIEND OF MINE DANNY MONK, NOW DECEASED, DESIGNED AND CREATED IT FROM SCRATCH....I WATCHED HIM MANY TIMES BACK IN THE 90'S BUILD THESE HEADS IN HIS LIVING ROOM ......CAROLINA BOYS KNOW IT AS THE MONKALUR....THE SURVIVING MONK FAMILY ARE MEMBERS HERE ON SFC

WELL MAYBE THIS TACKLE DIRECT COMPANY BOUGHT THE RIGHTS TO THIS LURE ...AND MAYBE THEY DIDN'T ...BUT WHAT I SEEN WAS A COPY WITHIN 99.9% OF THE ORIGINAL MONKALUR AND IT'S HANGING THERE ON THE WALL ...........

We saw your post about Monkalur knock-offs. We checked out the web site, you're right, they’re a copy of our Monkalur.
We got a tip last year about a guy in Atlantic Beach purchasing lures for the purpose of making knock-offs. At the time we didn’t think anything would develop, but it looks like it did… As for design rights, authorization from Monks Lure Company has not and will not happen. We are contacting resources for recourse. Ventures like this one usually do not last… Lack of integrity is self defeating and ones biggest foe.
We compared the Chinese knock-off to ours. It’s still not a Monk! First of all, it’s missing the looks but most of all it’s missing the legacy and the wonderful story that is attached to every true Monkalur… ” Pulling Monks in full sun tells the whole story”.
