    Venice, La. Offshore

It looks like we have dodged Hurricane Dean. The wind forecast in the gulf is up, but I would expect the forecast to change as Dean moves further South than expected. The fishing is still very good. We have had to work a little harder than we had been to put
tuna in the boat, but they are here in big numbers. We would have tuna busting all around the boat for a good hour and not a single bite, then all of a
sudden you would get a triple or a double on. Then silence again. That was about how this past weekend went. Nothing was working consistently, but
everything would work throughout the day. What wasn't working an hour ago, was two hours later. Artificial, Live, and Dead bait were all a necessity
if you were fishing tuna. And there you have it, the finicky tuna. On Friday Capt. Bob K. had the Matt Leicher gang. They caught 4 YFT. and
headed in for snapper which they easily put a limit in the boat. I took out the Miltenberger group with Trane Air conditioning and we had to work for
Two YFT, one right at 110lbs. and losing a heartbreaking third one right next to the boat. On Sat. Capt. Bob had the Darby group putting 5 YFT in the boat
and a limit of snapper. I took out the Morrison crew from Riley electric and they put three yellowfin tuna, 2 blackfin tuna, and 1 bull dolphin in the
box. We have open days next week and in September. The bite should remain good, there are plenty of fish around, we will start catching a lot more cobia as we move into Sept. and Oct.
