Venezuela - Turn Me Loose report

Owner, Dell Dombowski, gives us the update for our clients, M/M Danny Johns from Australia. It was Danny's desire to catch a grand slam of Atlantic billfish. The boat and crew arrived from a grueling journey just ahead of a storm on Friday afternoon.

The boat is the Turn Me Loose - a 61 Buddy Davis with twin C-18's. The cockpit was redesigned to give the angler the utmost in comfort with a mezzanine and a full size 130-lb tuna chair or replace it with a rocket launcher for most cockpit space.

Capt. Cachi - Franklin Millam Suarez has been fishing the waters from Venezuela - Costa Rica - Panama - St. Thomas and the DR to Florida and back for the past 35 years.

Sat, 16 Oct: The boat hooked 3 blues, 5 whites and 3 sails, but none were released

Sun, 17 Oct: The boat again raised numerous fish, this time the anglers released 2 blues and 6 whites.

Six more days to go.............. Danny's getting his wish!

Mon, 18 Oct - brought on a few more sails and whites than blues with 5 sails 3 whites and 2 blues into the spread. A great menajorie of pelagics. The single angler had his hands full and released 2 sails and a white.

Tues, 19 Oct - was a bit slower but no less exciting with several whites and sails give a showing. One sail was released

Wed, 20 Oct - the charter wanted to go bottom fishing.

Thu thru Sat, 21 thru 23 Oct got progressively better with an average of ten Billfish showing up in the spread. There were more BLUE MARLIN showing than others. The bite culminated on Saturday with 7, YES 7 Blue Marlin and 2 sails appearing mainly behind the teasers. Four blues were released and a few sails were released. What a fantastic finish for one man in the cockpit!!!

I am sure we will see Danny Johns again next season.
