    VB Swordfish

Fished the Norfolk Canyon on Wed. the 3rd. did 6 daytime drops and ended up finally getting our bite on the last 15 min of the last drop. fought the fish for about 40 min and finally landed our first this year. boy has the weather been bad. 48.5" fish. hopefully we can get into a more stable weather pattern it has really sucked up here. anybody who wants a change of the normal fishing they can be caught up here and in the daytime. Would really be great to get some more people trying to rec. fish for swords in the mid atlantic. this is our 6th daytime fish over the past 2 years. Casey btw more bluefins heading south. the canyon had acres of fish between 60-200+# we saw but did not try for.

Nice going, Big009! An near Christmas Elvis and a daytime one to boot. Terrific.

And maybe you'll convince some others to give the day shift a try. Daytime swording works and works well and consistently, especially deep dropping. And if you have the weather, it's a good plan to fish a half dark/half daytime trip when there is a good early or late day (depending on when you start) tide. One thing is certain, you can't catch these great fish day or night if you're tied up to the dock or watching football games.

Kudos, man, BIG kudos! Pioneers are very special and rare people. You are now Big010 in my book (excuse the pun.)

Congratulations to the crew. I have been following your reports over the years and really admire the fact you guys have stuck to your plan to figure these mid Atlantic swords out. It really escapes me why we don't try swordfishing more, especially in those areas, like Oregon, Hatteras and Ocracoke inlets where the run to deep water with significant bottom features is reasonable.

Keep after them & keep the reports coming. the one you're after is right around the corner!

BIG J you'all should have them around a lot more than we do. i am certain that it can be done up there. a couple friends of mine tried in oct. down south of the point off of hatteras, but only had cuban night sharks. i am really itching to try down off of MHC sometime outside of bigrock or maybe a little south or north. would be a much shorter run and give time for a lot more drops. I just can't believe there is not anybody doing it yet. this is a great opportunity for you guys off the crystal coast. i know there will be some nice fish caught down there. casey

    Big,

I'm hoping to jump all over the swordfishing off of Hatteras starting this spring! I tried getting info about it last summer but no one really had any info. I get back at the end of Jan so anytime after that you want to head out of HI or MHC and you need another body, let me know!!
