Smile VARIETY - FISHIN FOOL STYLE

    Boat: Fishin Fool
    31' Contender FA

    Crew:
Lucian (Fishin Fool), Chris, Bill (Usual Suspects), Jim

The plan was to go wreck hopping inshore for Donkeys.
I woke up this morning and it was too pretty for that, so I grabbed some hoos out of the deep freeze as well as some squid and headed to the boat. Upon arrival, I told my crew there was a change of plan and was it ok with them. They said yes and at 0630 we headed EAST.

We ran to some designated wrecks on the far side (SECRET) and started checking numbers looking for groupers, we found our spot and dropped.

We caught MOACE (Mother Of All Conger Eels), several and then some more. Bill finally broke the streak and put a very nice Wreck Fish in the boat. We continued and caught Blueline Tiles, Another Wreck Fish, More Eels, Tinker Mackerals, More Eels, Small Sharks looked kind of yellow and had a design on their backs and a Hake (So I was told at the dock).

We finally decided to head over to a popular tile hole, finding a small crowd, caught a few nice tiles and some small sea bass & had a very nice 12'+ Manta Ray swin right under the boat before heading off.

We were not looking for the mother load, only a few of this and a few of that.

I decided it was time to go catch a couple of YFT and possibly a Marlin, so I had them crank up the spread and we headed southeast. As we neared my designated spot, we saw tunas busting the surface and we dropped the lines. We never got out very many lines as we kept getting covered up. First YFT arounf 35 lbs, in the box out of 3.

Next came another multiple knockdown, one came tight and a White One comes skying out of the water, a 4 minute battle and he shook the hook.

We regroup and the lines go down again and these are BOSCO'S, VERY NICE YFT. We went 1 for 5 with one breaking the spreader bar and another STUD (70+ lbs.) Bill had on for what seemed like an eternity before it broke off beside the boat. We did manage to get Chris's fish we estimated it to be 50-60 lbs.

    Total Time Trolling 30 Minutes...........NICE...

I called in a few boats and I hope they put some Sushi in the box.

    Final Talley:
Many Conger Eels - All Released
    Sea Bass - Mostly Small
Blueline Tiles - A couple pushing paper
    Hake - Kept
Tinker Mackeral - Dozen or so
Wreck Fish - Couple - NICE
YFT - Couple ot of MANY
White Marlin - Threw the hook after 4 Minutes of Fun
Little Yellow Sharks with designs on their backs

And I was gonna Fish INSHORE.......

Another Great Day with Another Great Crew!!!

Here are a couple of pics:

    Chris with a Tinker

Me and Bill with a YFT and a Wreck Fish

    Jim with a YFT

    Crew

Hard to believe we caught that many species in one day.

    Bret:
Sorry you couldn't make it, hopefully we can make it happen another day.

i took some pictures of your boat today while you were tilefishing. I tried to call you but didn't know your channel. we hooked up on a group of yft up to 57lbs while you were tilefishing. I guess that is what you were doing cause i saw you go for the net while we were putting the fish in the boat. only got one out of three do to my stupidity but we are currently in first place dolphin and third place tuna so it wasn't all that bad. will be back their tomorrow.

I will post your boat pics on tuesday when I am back home.

    Wow, Thanks...

    I was scanning 79, 80, 82 & 68.

Congrats on the Mahi and YFT.

    Which boat were you on?

If I had know you were calling me I would have responded.

We had a GREEN Palagic crew except for Chris and I was busy, driving, clearing, leadering & gaffing. Next time I'll have a STUD crew and go lurking for some bills.

    Good Luck Tomorrow!!!

I love to help out others on the water, I have others put me on fish on slow days and it's nice to reciprocate from time to time.

I just hope I'm not too long making a return trip. I have a lot of tackle to go through and a couple of reels that need new line and minor repairs.

Hope to see you on the water.

Yesterday I asked Greg; Isn't tht Lucian's boat over there? He said no, Lucian is fishing inshore today

Glad you guys got a good mix on the catch... the hake is good eating, but not as good as the BL's or goldies (my opinion). Beautiful day, huh?

Nice to see you out there!
