Upgrading the fishability of your boat.

We've all been out there fishing and saying I wish I had a . . . . . . on the boat. I think I will add a such and such for next time. If you could add something to your rig to make your fishing experience better what would it be?

Also we sometimes forget to put things in the boat. Now I'm not really talking rods and reels or electronics, I 'm talking about the littler things, crimpers, leader, etc. What is the one thing you never want to forget to bring with you on a fishing trip?

I wish I had a slick ice machine like Franky and his Dad just installed on the LAST CALL. Sweeeeet!

Besides that, the next thing I'm planning on installing are some side-mount rod holders in the fwd part of the cockpit so when clearing lines the rods can get moved well out of the way, without having to put them up on the bridge. Now they usually end up in the fwd gunnel holders or in the rocket launcher on the back of the chair and the angler has to keep his/her head tucked forward so they are not hitting their head all of the time.

Two things that were added last year (just because I thought, OK maybe they are ok, we'll see)... those two things are: Boga Grip & a "hook out" tool (pictured below). This tool does work and works well.

    Good thread Byrdman!

after having been fortunate NOT to be the one with the 10/0 hook thru my palm or finger with fish attached on a couple of occasions , i figured out that:
    a) you need a tool that will really cut a large hook in two or off of a lure/etc
    b) you should ensure that what you think will cut a hook , really will cut thru the steel.

i tried the wire cutter, etc that I had on the boat and they would if fact,NOT cut the hook.

i bought a pair of these and they worked, have not had to use them yet, but i have tried them and i do keep them with me.

another thing i now do is keep a bottle of 50% bleack/water to spray those cuts on my hands especially now during rockfish/tautog season when handling rockfish and getting cuts from cutting up blue crabs, keep that bad bacteria down.

dont want to blow my wad all at once .........

on the viking, while i love the mezzanine and would never get rid of it, you loose the bait prep station, you got to carry a rigging bag etc for the stuff, and we all know how much stuff i got.

second thing would be to install an extra fishfinder/water temp , etc in the cockpit, infact it could just be a monitor of what is seen on the bridge.

Whoooooooaaaaa there nellie, i mean timmy I'm not sure thats the best idea. Can you imagine the De-cension that would go on if there was a cockpit finder. I don't want to know when my capt stops working a specific ball of bait and moved on. I don't think I could handle the stress of it all. It better for me at least that I keep my eye facing back!!!!!
