Question Ultimate offshore boat (under 35')

A change in circumstances has me ready to sell my current boat and begin the search for another. I'm torn between moving down to a smaller bay boat and wait for the kids to grow a little before getting something for offshore or getting a slight bigger, more family friendly rig.

    Things I know I want/need:

    Under 35'
Express style so I can fish short handed while running the boat
Room to sleep two adults and two kids
    Basic overnight/weekend accomodations
    I am budget conscious/constrained

    Open Questions:

    Make and model?
    Inboard or outboard?

You should take a look at a 320 Express World Cat .It gets you there and back quick and does not beat you up doing it

I'll second the Carolina Classic 28..

Twin Diesel, very friendly on fuel. @10 GPH and very clean.

We're looking to move up. She's on the highway at Alliance Marine West side of the Bay Bridge.

Stop and take a look or PM if interested.

The Carolina 28 seems to be too small for two adults and 2 kids to spend a weekend on. I'm selling a 27' Grady and that was fine for two of us, bit no where for teh kids. Most larger OB boats have a small aft berth for teh kids, but you're stuck with OB. I need to look at the Pursuit line again. Please keep the ideas coming.

Bill, I thought that the Mirage was a single screw?
