    Nature of the beast. Tuna feed different than marlin.

    Tuna don't really "kill" there prey. They just eat it.

    The whole principle behind dropping back to marlin is that Marlin make sure their prey is dead before consuming. That's the whole dropping back thing.

    This is another thing i don't understand. 33 ppl said just off strike?

    This makes ZERO sense. Are you fishing 15 lbs. at strike? 20? 12? So really there is no basis to "just off strike"

    Guys trolling hoos for Giants on 130's are prob fishing what? 24 lbs. at strike?

    we usually troll 15-18#drag at strike set in the strike position.

    guys trolling for gbft are prob fishing 24-32# at strike like you said.

    Not only do I like about 15lbs of drag tuna fishing I also like for my outrigger clips to be tight.

    It doesnt matter where you have the drag set at on YOUR reel your real on strike might be different from my reel on strike so why not say numbers...???

    Shimano 80w with 100#
    12lbs of drag 3/4" below strike
    Get the bite reel is screaming
    fish slows down im busy with something else i can tell the angler "okay go up to the button"
    16lbs of drag at strike
    put the heat on him and catch him....
