    Tuna Tool

I don't use it often, but it came in real handy yesterday.

seems like i might have to try it..

but does anyone notice when you pull the skin off the fish compared to skinning with a nice the amount of excess (junk) that gets left behind where the skin is help onto the meat with all those fibers and such!?

Mark I used one that a guy had at Wancheese this past summer and it skinned the meat quick. The only issue it had was that the little opening to slide the skin in would squeeze itself shut and you would have to pry open on a cleat at the dock. My Brother in law made me one after I told him how good it worked.

    Sea Draggin,
Thanks for the plug and good fishing!

I patented the Tuna Tool in 2005 and have kept prodution at a minium, but I still sell them on my website.I was actually hopeing that a catalog/distributor would pick it up exclusively. The problem with some copies is that they are not made out of the same materials.Believe me when I say I went through quite a few prototypes befeore I was happy with the one that I now sell.BTW they work great on rock fish, cobias and mahi as well as tuna... I've really never seen much problem with it pulling meat off with the skin. That might be a problem in how cold the fish may be.I'm a real stickler on doing a icy brine on my boat to keep fish cold! For any one here on SFC, I will sell them at a discount to what I sell them for on my website. Please PM me if your interested.

That is right on the money. Little mahi's we intentionally let sit overnight before cleaning because the yield is so much better when cold all the way through.
