Get 'er Done
I am really enjoying this thread and the thought of doing battle with a giant stand up style is giving me goose bumps.
I commend those who have the gall to challenge the toughest of fish stand up. My stand up experience was gained from the long range sport fishing boats out of San Diego using a 50W where you are fighting other anglers just as much as the fish. In MHC it will be other boats(there's no complete win situation when you are in each others way). I never fished a chair until I fished on the East Coast and while it is easier, especially in rough water there is something much more personal and satisfying when fishing stand up. The connection between you and fish is much more intimate; giving the fish even more of an advantage but when you win it is much more satisfying.
tiggere, I hope you get set up right and pit your mental and physical stamina against one of these brutes and come out the victor.
There is satisfaction in being the victor in a fight when the advantage is not in your favor, pit your wits against the bastards and win.
I hope to do the same one day and I have already been preparing for some time, for victory in this type of endeavor is not just about brawn it’s about brains—technique and crew/equipment preparation.
Good luck,

Article on Standup Bluefin
Here's an article about a guy who's been doing what you want to do for the last decade. Pretty cool.
