Tuna Fishing,Venice, La.
The tuna fishing is still excellent right now offshore. Plenty of action which is the way it has been for almost a month now. Capt. Bob K. had the Schluter gang down on Tuesday and made quick work putting 4 YFT in the boat by 11:00 a.m. His crew was ready to catch snapper so they left the tuna biting then ran in and caught a limit of snapper and several grouper. I had the Daughdrill gang from the Univ. of Alabama down. They were trying to get in a quick trip before classes started on Thurs. and we were able to put a hurting on some of these youngsters backs. Our morning started out quick as well, we immediately got a double on, and it got quiet for about two hours. A quick move further west and it was tuna chaos all over again. They were able to put 7 more tuna in the box and we called it a day. The fishing is very good right now. The tropical systems are starting to show up. Not surprising for this time of year. Good luck to the folkes that gets Erin this morning. It is going to be hard to get anything done in that area this morning. Hopefully Dean goes hard east or hard west and stays out of the U.S. We will get at least the next four days in then we will have to see what Dean is doing. If anyone wants in on the fishing action we've got days open next week, weather pending of course.
