If I had to pick one... it would probably be trolling... purely from a personal choice/level of enjoyment perspective. Certainly the best catches have been chunking. Would hate to give up either. Trolling, you have a shot at also catching blue or white marlin, mahis or even a wahoo, with a better chance at catching a bigeye tuna. Chunking, you have a better chance to catch a significant number of tuna, better percentages of catching yellowfin, plus you can also catch dolphin and also have a good chance at a sword or a big shark every time... so there is opportunity in both methods.

Chunking with live bait will put more tuna in your box than trolling in the same amount of time Not many trollers can put 100 tuna on board in 8-10 hrs but a good crew of chunkers can fish 3 or 4 rods with as many others ready to pitch/drop a jig when they come through and you can crush them It isn't as romantic as trolling but for pure #'s you will not beat a good crew of chunk tuna fisherman
I prefer to troll but I don't get to fish everyday anymore if I did I would chunk much more cost effective
The 3 reasons would be you know where they are what they are on and you can keep them there as long as you want to with chunks
