CAN SOME ONE GIVE ME A NAME OF A REPUTABLE TUNA BUYER IN MOREHEAD.
THANKS.
DUDE THERE ARE SEVERAL HERE LOCATED AT A MARINA OR TWO AND AT THE MAJOR FISH HOUSES
THE ONLY REASON I HESITATE TO MENTION A NAME IS ......
I ASK THIS QUESTION? HOW REPUTABLE IS ONES EARLY FISH PREP AFTER THE KILL PRIOR GOING TO DA MARKET?
SOME GUYS THINK THAT IF THEY GET 8 BUCKS A LB THE DEALER ISN'T REPUTABLE......BUT IF THEY GET 18 A LB....WOW....THE BROKER IS AWESOME
I THINK ALL THE MAIN 4 OR SO IN MHC ARE REPUTABLE
HOPEFULLY ONE OF THE DEALERS HERE WILL BE READING SFC AND CHIME IN
YEH, I KNOW THE GAME. I SOLD HUNDREDS OF FISH BOTH ON CONSIGNMENT AND DOMESTICLY, JUST NEVER IN MOREHEAD. HOW ABOUT JUST THE NAMES OF SOME BROKERS, FORGET ABOUT THE REPUTABLE PART. I'LL ASK CAPT. JOE TODAY, HE SOULD KNOW. THANKS ANYWAY.
Go see Jason at Homer Smith's. I believe his outfit is called Kashiko's. I have dealt with him for the past couple of years.

Capt Dorian, Jason from Kashiko Exports here. You can stop by Homer Smith Dock anytime to speak with me or get my number from Joe Shute or any local fisherman from the MHC area(not sure if i should post it here). Kashiko Exports has been buying and selling tuna for over 20 years and have an impeccable reputation in the industry, not only for fairness and honesty but also for always seeking the highest price possible for our fisherman. We have been here in Beaufort since the commercial fishery for BFT started.
Look forward to hearing from and seeing you and all fishermen this season, stop by or call anytime.

Long story as short as possible. Started in the eighties on charter boats out of Barnegat Light, then jacked the numbers longlining for a
couple years, then Maine and had a some really good years--had a roomate that was a buyer and tuned me in to Tsukuji and grading, then to Montauk for a handful of years and now NC. Can't wait to get started.
Thanks for the info and thanks Jason, I'll give you a shout tomorrow. A common misconception most people have about buyers is that they are dishonest. Regardless of price, which most of us know, is predominately dictated by demand especialy when the fish is consigned, the key, I feel, is that the buyer has an idea of the pulse of the floor overseas and can
give an idea how demand might be. That being said, we all have heard about what can happen when a few overzealous buyers get into a bidding war on sometimes, just an average fish. What we like in buyers is consistant grading (shape, color, content) and let demand dictate the rest.
Good luck to everyone this season, and hopefully someone will hit the lottery with a six figure fish.
Hope that helps answer your question BOX, by the way nice poop chute!
